Logistics Officer Association Guidance
The Logistics Officer Associations
Chapter Expectations
The LOA Executive Board strongly believes the strength and vitality of its local chapters is the key to achieving our vision:
“Educating and uniting a dynamic membership base to enhance the readiness and effectiveness of Air and Space Forces today and tomorrow.”
As a guide to steer our ever-growing Association, we have established some basic expectations for all local chapters. With a better understanding of the priorities at the national level, I think your local Chapter can strengthen and unite our organization … where it counts. The expectations below are outlined to follow the key elements of our Vision.
Educate - Hold chapter meetings at least quarterly … discuss topics representative of all eligible disciplines (maintenance, logistics readiness, contracting) - Host at least two guest speakers per year—one from off base, if possible - Conduct at least two professional development tours per year - Encourage maximum participation in the LOA Conference … share the information
Unite the Membership - Create and maintain an e-mail list to effectively communicate with all chapter LOA eligibles, including IMA and civil service personnel - Create and maintain a current chapter web site to communicate to your members - Submit at least one ER chapter update per year … what did you do to achieve the vision (don’t just include chapter election results) - Submit list of new chapter leadership (include your senior advisor’s name) within two weeks after election - Increase chapter National LOA membership by 10% per year
Enhance the Readiness and Effectiveness - Submit at least one informational article per year for publishing in the ER - Canvass chapter membership each year to identify and nominate deserving individuals for the annual LOA scholarship and awards programs - Make a scholarship contribution to LOA National each year
This framework of general expectations should help the local chapters strengthen our organization and grow better logisticians. We would like to hear from each chapter on how they are contributing to the LOA vision. Our goal is to make the LOA more than just an organization that exists around the annual conference. Please send your ideas and feedback to any Naitonal Board member. Thank you for your strong support.
