The
universal theme
of the Alamo Chapter's emblem is our testament to the belief that no
one logistician is more important than another -- this is evident in
that no symbolic representation of any one logistics discipline is
depicted.
Text for
"Alamo" and the "Logistics Officers
Association" merely helps to clearly identify our entity.
The
body of our logo is the Texas State Flag, encased by
silhouettes of two distinctive landmarks of San Antonio, Texas -- the
Tower of the Americas and The Alamo. The Tower of
the Americas
was the theme structure for HemisFair in 1968, and symbolizes the
progress made by the confluence of civilizations in the Western
Hemisphere. On the east side of Alamo Plaza is the most famous
spot in Texas where 189 defenders fell on March 6, 1836, after
repeated attacks by Mexican General Santa Anna’s army. While the
facts surrounding the siege of the Alamo continue to be debated, there
is no doubt about what the battle has come to symbolize. People
worldwide continue to remember the Alamo as a heroic struggle against
overwhelming odds -- a place where men made the ultimate sacrifice for
freedom. Logisticians in San Antonio proudly perform
their services with bold enthusiasm towards progress and purpose that
has, in itself, earned recognition throughout the aerospace and
aviation industry.
Finally, the gear is a vital part of the whole machine, much
like logisticians to any successful operation. The person in the
middle clearly represents all of the people who form the logistics
foundation in our San Antonio area. Both are gold ... signifying
our value.
