Desert Lightning Chapter: Raytheon Industry Exchange Tour highlights

Davis-Monthan’s logistics officers got an up-close look at Lean processes in action when they toured the Raytheon Missile Systems facility located in Tucson, AZ. The tour was coordinated by DM’s Desert Lightning LOA Chapter as an “industry exchange” experience designed to give those involved the opportunity to share knowledge and ideas.
The event included briefings about Raytheon’s supply chain management operations followed by tours of their Paveway, Tomahawk, and JSOW production lines. Two dozen officers from 12th Air Force, Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center, and several squadrons from around DM experienced first hand how Raytheon successfully leaned their production efforts, and gained valuable insight into the process. The experience undoubtedly inspired new and creative ideas that will benefit DM in the near future.

Overall, the Raytheon visit was a huge success that the Desert Lightning Chapter hopes to repeat with their upcoming industry exchange tour scheduled for the spring.
