Your LOA National Team and the Alamo Chapter are working hard to put together a first class conference in “It's that time again where we start the process to identify, nominate and elect our next LOA National Executive Council. | Loggie Announcements: 2006 LOA Scholarship Program: The LOA scholarship program is targeted toward the professional logistician seeking a commission or further advancement in a logistics related career. It is not too early to start considering which of your outstanding troops you will want to nominate for a scholarship. Nominations must be emailed to the Scholarship Committee Chairman NLT 1 Aug 2006. Please point your browser to http://www.loanational.org/guidance.asp for the most current guidance and scholarship nomination procedures. The LOA scholarship program is intended to assist the most deserving Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine, Coast Guard, National Guard, or Reserve enlisted or DoD civilian (grade GS-1 through GS-8 and WG-1 through WG-9) in a logistics specialty, with college expenses towards an associate or bachelor degree. The program is sustained entirely by donations from LOA members and supporters. Winners are presented their scholarship award at the annual conference banquet. | National Conference: 2006 Conference – SAN ANTONIO! Exhibit booth reservations are open. Sales are brisk and we are over 75% full already! If you are interested in a booth—contact me today. All exhibit info is on the website. http://www.loanational.org/conference/. Sponsorships are also open—we almost sold out of sponsorship opportunities last year. This year we have added several new ones—its first come first served so again—contact me soon. We are shooting to open registration in late May- we’ll keep you posted. Hotel reservations are open—make your reservations early to ensure the great conference rate we have negotiated. Keep in mind that we will run a shuttle bus from the hotels to the conference center for your convenience. | ER: By now you should have received your Spring ER. The theme was “Joint and Combined Logistics” –LOA’s own webmaster – Major JD DuVall -- graces the cover! Summer ER is the “Technology” issue; its in the works now, and we have a load of stories for our 100th Issue. Fall ER theme is “Sustaining Today’s Weapon Systems with Tomorrow’s Airmen” (same as the conference theme). Deadline for submissions is 15 July 06. Submissions are piling up so if you have a submission—send it to editor@loanational.org for consideration. | |

| LOA History: MOA & LOA National Presidents Series: LtCol Luke Gill, 1983 – 1984: Lt Col Luke Gill was the Maintenance Officer Association’s second national president. He was a core munitions officer with broad aircraft maintenance experience—including two tours as an aircraft generation squadron commander. He had also been a Palace Log team member in the late 1970s. At the time of his selection as MOA President, he was assigned to the Missiles and Nuclear Branch at HQ USAF/LEYW, and the Exceptional Release Editor. During his tenure Lt Col Gill championed the addition of Regional Representatives, pushed for more expedient cross-flow of information between chapters and improved recruiting. | |

| Franchises: May 1st marks the open season for franchise submissions; deadline for submissions is 30 June 06. All current merchandise, as displayed on the website at http://www.loanational.org/merchandise.asp must recompete for the right to sell merchandise with the LOA National emblem. Additionally, all chapters have the right to propose new merchandise for LOA National sales following the guidelines found in the LOA G-7 http://www.loanational.org/guidance.asp. If interested in competing/recompeting merchandise, please contact the Information Officer for an e-copy of the application forms infoofficer@loanational.org. | |
