| Senior Leader Quote: The LOA mentorship program is a great opportunity to share ideas and train our replacements. LOA is one of the few professional organizations that I know of that offers a formalized program like ours. LOA mentors and mentees have a variety of tools at their disposal and the Exceptional Release is the first resource that comes to mind. Another book I recommend for mentors and mentees is Lean Thinking, by James Womack and Daniel Jones. Lean Thinking presents a transformational approach to recapitalizing our aging equipment with shrinking budgets. These tools and techniques are relevant to everyone: from air staff...to the flight line...to the depots. I hope you consider using the ER and books in your correspondence with each other. | A Message from the LOA President: I echo Major General Morrill's comments. Sharing ideas and training our replacements is what we are all about. In line with this, we formed a LOA Mentorship Committee to take our mentorship program to the next level. Lt Col Schwing is leading this effort...more to follow as the committee reports back. Please take advantage of the many tools the mentorship program offers and will offer...transforming the Air Force and LOA into a better/leaner place to live and work. Finally, as we close out the final LOA Newsletter for this year, I look forward to working with you over the next year. Happy Holidays to you and all your family members! | |

| Mentorship: LOA is proud to announce the formation of a Mentorship Committee. This group of 11 LOA volunteer members, chaired by Lt Col Rich Schwing, LOA VP, will take our Mentorship Program to the next level. The Committee will assess the current program, brainstorm for areas to improve, and develop specific plans for each improvement area. Initial ideas include more guidance for mentors and mentees, a more robust mentorship webpage on our website, and professional development-related updates in the LOA Newsletter. Look for periodic updates on the Committee's progress in the coming months. If you have suggestions of how to improve our mentorship program, please email vicepres@loanational.org. Your Mentorship Committee members: Col(ret) Mike Hogan, Lt Col Linda Dahl, Lt Col Robert L. Stephenson, Lt Col Kurt Wilson, Lt Col Kurt Kitti, Maj Dana Pelletier, Maj Matt Paskin, Maj Kevin Sampels, Capt Chris Boring, and Capt Heather Hunn. | |

| LOA History: Logistics Officer Association: A New Beginning: 2000 – 2001. MOA had just become LOA and was entering a new decade. Our organization took on a whole new persona as we opened up to officers across all Air Force logistics specialties. EAF and support for its construct was at center stage in 2000. Logisticians around the Air Force sought innovative ways to increase their readiness at home toward maximizing their agility for deployment. Also in 2000, the 21AX career field drafted its first CFETP, recognizing the need for standardization across the maintenance officer career field. Meanwhile some loggies were attending AFIT’s new “Contingency Contracting Training,” designed to grow “deployable” contracting officers. Partnering with industry continued to gain momentum, as Air Force loggies further capitalized on adapting technological advances made in industry. The Bottom Line: As always, remember our organization is all about the troops. Our focus will continue to be on training our replacements, and sharing ideas. | |

Keep our deployed troops and families in your thoughts. | |
