Presidents Message

Thank you for your interest in the Logistics Officer Association and welcome to our official website. I am honored to be president of LOA during this period of unprecedented growth in the association's history. In 1982, 40 young maintainers envisioned and founded an organization - the Maintenance Officer Association (MOA) - that would address the specific developmental needs of their profession. On May 1, 1999, MOA evolved to become the Logistics Officer Association (LOA), reflecting more accurately the current Air Force structure. LOA's purpose is to enhance the military logistics profession. LOA provides an open forum to promote quality logistical support and logistics officer professional development.

LOA National is a nonprofit, professional educational organization with no official affiliation with the United States Air Force. LOA promotes professional growth among its members through the crossflow of information on aviation maintenance policies, technical innovations and other logistics issues. This is possible because LOA serves as a professional association open to all interested individuals, including retirees, members of our sister services, our civilian counterparts and corporate partners. The Exceptional Release (ER), LOA's widely-read, quarterly professional journal, reflects LOA's broad-based interests.
LOA grew by over 30 percent during the year 2004. It now boasts over 3,500 members, including key aircraft and munitions maintenance, logistics readiness, transportation, supply, contracting and logistics plans decision-makers in the Air Force and other services.

A benefit of LOA involves chapter membership and activities. These are usually associated with a particular installation or area (for example the OK Chapter at Tinker AFB, Okla.). LOA chapter activities facilitate professional development, tours, technical exchanges, officership, job searches, mentoring and camaraderie. Check out this website for a chapter near you.

An annual highlight is our national conference. It's a great opportunity for logisticians to hear about issues facing their profession -directly from the senior leaders who guide DoD logistics. We also benefit from the technical exhibits provided by our corporate partners and government agencies. They benefit by the intimate environment created to interface with military decision-makers.

You can find out about other programs, like the Scholarship Program, Mentorship Program, Corporate Memberships or forming a chapter, by browsing our website.

If you qualify for membership under Section 1 of our bylaws and are not already a member, I invite you to join. Simply, complete a membership form and enter your credit card information. We look forward to formally welcoming you to LOA: run by logisticians for logisticians. If you are already a member, stay involved. We need the contributions of every LOA member.

Speaking of contributing members, I'd like to take a moment to recognize our volunteer webmaster. Maj JD DuVall is always looking for ways to improve your website. Let him know if you have any ideas or suggestions at webmaster@loanational.org.
