History

The National Logistics Officer Association History:

The Logistics Officer Association draws its heritage from the Maintenance Officer Association, which was founded in 1982. The Exceptional Release began as the organization's professional journal in 1989. In 1993 MOA hired Deborah Pauly, Director Public Relations, to publish the ER and act as Executive Administrator for the Association.

As the Air Force reduced the barriers between the logistics disciplines in the late 90s, the MOA membership voted to become a Logistics Officer Association (LOA) effective 1 May 1999. This change welcomed officers from Supply, Transportation, Logistics Plans, and Contracting to be full members of the Association. LOA officially recognized Munitions as a separate logistics discipline in 1999 with the expansion of the 21M AFSC.

The Gateway Chapter History:

The Gateway Chapter, Scott AFB, IL was formed on 1 Jun 2000 and formally established/recognized on 21 July 2000 by the National organization. The Gateway Chapter has robust top-down support and boasts a National membership of over 100 professional logisticians from the active, guard and reserve forces. In August 2000, the Gateway Chapter submitted two nominees for the National Scholarship program and in September 2000 we were proud to have one of our fine enlisted logistician recognized as a National Scholarship Winner -- TSgt Casey L. Kopecky, Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of Stock Control Cell One, HQ AMC Regional Supply Squadron, Scott AFB, IL.

Update Oct 00:  BG Peter J. Hennessey replaced MG Roger A. Brady as the Senior Logistics Advisor.

Update Jan 01:  Maj Ann-Marie Parker replaced Lt Col James Watts as President of the Chapter due to Lt Col Watts' PCS.

Update Apr 01:  Chapter membership is currently at 37.

Update Jun 01:  Col Gary Melchor replaced Col Ted Brewer as the Base Logistics Advisor.

SrA ChrisJay Fontillas of the AMC Regional Supply Squadron was selected as the Chapter's nominee for the National LOA Scholarship Program.

 

TSgt Casey Kopecky PCS'd to Maxwell AFB, AL to attend Officer Training School.  He will be a contracting officer.

The Scott LOA received a 2 year franchise license from the National Executive Council to sale the official LOA watch.  In addition, we were selected as the National LOA's Feature Chapter Website!

Update Aug 01:  The Scott LOA Logistician of the Quarter Award program was a huge success.  We had 34 packages total from the 375AW, HQ AMC, AMCRSS, and USTC.  The following personnel were selected for Apr - Jun 01:
