MEMORANDUM FOR LOA RAPTOR CHAPTER MEMBERS

SUBJ:  Meeting minutes for Thursday, 19 July 2002, LOA meeting:

            The purpose of the meeting was to learn about the F-22 bed-down at Tyndall.  Maj Steve James was the guest briefer from the F-22 Integration Office.  He came to educate us on the status of the F-22 and it’s upcoming role as the newest “air superiority fighter” in the Air Force.  The briefing was followed by a Q&A session.   The following issues were discussed:

Old Business:

--             20th Anniversary LOA Conference: 3-6 Sept 02 in Washington DC

New Business:

 

-         Maj Steve James spoke to us about the F-22 bed-down at Tyndall AFB, FL.  Here is a quick summary of the briefing.  The slide show is 4 MB so if you are interested in getting a copy of the briefing, e-mail 2Lt Amanda Jones-Greco

--             First aircraft to arrive at Tyndall AFB in June 03

--             Stand-up of new squadron Oct 02 (1st F-22 squadron in the AF)

---               43rd FS Hornets (originally from Elmendorf, retired in ’94)

--             Total AF buy 339 (GAO projection--295)

--             Col Snyder informed the group that every time we adjust the F-22 numbers through Secretary Rumsfeld we have to re-adjust the F-15 numbers as well because instead of being sent to a guard unit when we are through with them, these aircraft are headed to the boneyard.

--             4 month slip in aircraft arrival, personnel slipped 4 months as well

--             43rd FS to be located in bldg 530 until construction of new hanger is complete

--             Col Snyder announced the arrival of the F-22 Site Manager for Lockheed Martin, Mr. Mike Cabiness.  His office is the 1st floor of the LG building.

-         Wing Reorganization

--             Col Snyder spoke about the reorganization of the LG into the MXG and the SPTG into the MSG and its affects on the wing.

---               16 Aug 02 Ceremony for MXG, MSG and their respective squadrons.

---               The group will be increasing 400% from 300 to 1200 AF personnel.

---               Lt Col Sarchet will be commanding the new 325th AMXS to be located in what is currently the 95FS command section.

Ø      Under the AMXS will be 4 AMF (Aircraft Maintenance Flights—1st, 2d, 43 d, and 95th)

---               Lt Col Lopez will be the new meeting manager for the reorganization between the LG and OG.

-         LOA National Scholarship Nominee --SrA Shanelle Leach (325th MXS)

-         New LOA Officers

--             Please congratulate Capt Lori Vessels for being elected the new LOA vice-president!

-         If you know someone who is not receiving LOA e-mails but is a member contact Lt Kris Ellis (x4945).

-         Future LOA Trips

--             If you have any ideas for upcoming trips please contact 2Lt Archie Godwin (x4200).  Some possibilities include the Climactic Lab at Eglin AFB, NASA tour at Patrick AFB or a local trip to the Paper Mill or the Costal Systems Station (POC 2Lt Ryan Nash x4223).
