MEMORANDUM FOR LOA RAPTOR CHAPTER MEMBERS

SUBJ:  Meeting minutes for Monday, 29 April 02, LOA meeting:

            The purpose of the meeting was to introduce new LOA officers, discuss the next year and future business.  Col. Snyder talked briefly about upcoming reorganization of the wing to a Mx Group followed by a Q&A session.    The following issues were discussed:

Old Business:

-         Raptor Chapter Web Site is up and running.  Capt Rios is welcome to ideas and suggestions to make it better.  We paid a $25 yearly fee to National LOA for the web site space.  Website is www.loanational.org/tyndall.

-         LOA Table:            The LOA table is now located in at the O’Club in Checkers Lounge.  Stop by and take a look.

New Business:

-         New LOA Officers

--             President:  Maj Sandy Koerkenmeier

--             Vice President:  1Lt Sarah Bestrain

--             Recorder:  2Lt Amanda Jones-Greco

--             Membership Chairman:  1Lt Joe DePorter

--             Events Chairman:  Capt Scott Murray

-         National LOA News

--             20th Anniversary LOA Conference

---               3-6 Sept 02 in Washington DC

---               Theme:  Supporting the War Fighter

---               There will be an opportunity for a handful of folks to attend.  Need a POC to work out arrangements.  If interested please let Maj Koerkenmeier know. 

---               You need to be a National LOA member to attend conference.  You can become a member by going to the National LOA homepage at www.loanational.org/new.asp.

--             National LOA Scholarships

---               Nominations due to Maj Koerkenmeier or 1Lt Bestrain NLT 31 May 02.

---               Civilian/Enlisted are eligible if they are in a logistics career field and working towards a bachelor’s degree (see email Maj Koerkenmeier sent out for details)

--             ER – If would like to a submit an article for the ER contact Maj Koerkenmeier for details

-         Upcoming speakers/meetings: 

--             We would like a guest speaker at every meeting.  Does anybody have any suggestions for speakers?  Please forward to 1Lst Bestrain.

---               Future briefs could include a Nellis ELS brief and 1st AF. 

-         Trips and Tours:

--             We would like to schedule three trips a year.  Does anybody have any suggestions for trips and tours?  Please contact Capt Murray.

---               Future trips and tours could include a trip to Eglin to visit the AF Research Lab’s climatic lab and F-22 plant in Marietta, GA.

-         Social Events

--             We would like to get together on occasion to have fun and not just talk business.  Does anybody have any ideas for social events?  Please contact Capt Murray.

---               Future social events could include a pool party and tri-base golf tournament with Eglin and Hurlburt Field LOAs.

-         If you have any recommendations or suggestions to make the LOA better, or something you’d like to see discussed at future meetings, please let Maj Koerkenmeier or 1Lst Bestrain know.
