MEMORANDUM FOR LOA RAPTOR CHAPTER MEMBERS
FROM: Raptor Chapter President
SUBJ: Meeting minutes for Thursday, 2 Aug 01, LOA meeting:
The purpose of the meeting was to conduct official business and discuss the Chief of Staff Logistics Review (CLR) initiatives ongoing in the AF. Our new Raptor Chapter Advisor, Col Snyder, 325 LG/CC, presented the CLR briefing. There were 30 persons present with several new members joining our association. The following issues were discussed:
Old Business:
- Treasurer's Report; and update on membership Capt Minnick
-- Currently $260.62 in the account and $145 on hand.
- LOA Scholarships: we received 4 National LOA Scholarship nominee packages. The board, consisting of 325 LG/CC, LG/CD, and OG/CDM, scored the packages and TSgt Michael Menna, a Weapons Instructor, was chosen as our nominee to National LOA. The package was forwarded and results are scheduled to be announced 19 Aug
New Business:
- Golf Tournament: Lt Bestrain volunteered to head up another LOA Golf Tournament this fall and invite Eglin and Hurlburt LOA’s to participate. Date TBD
- LOA Trip: Capt Vessels is working on our next trip; currently planning to visit the depot at WR-ALC. She’ll be working with Col Snyder to get POC’s to help host us. More to come.
- Raptor Chapter Web Site: Capt Rios presented the group with a proposal to establish a Raptor Chapter Web Site as an off-spring to the National LOA site. Cost would be $25 yearly. He’s looking for ideas and inputs on what to include on the site. Recommendations were made to highlight a particular segment of our mission here at Tyndall periodically. He is pressing on with establishing the site but still looking for help and ideas.
- LOA Table: Capt Minnick volunteered to head the effort to look at feasibility/cost of building a Raptor Chapter LOA Table to put in the O’Club bar. The idea is to have a dedicated table for LOA members’ use and something we could design/decorate with our own special memorabilia. Maj Deihl has received permission from club management to do this. If you have ideas or would like to help, please contact Capt Minnick. Once final cost is determined, we’ll be running it by LOA members for consideration
- National LOA Conference will be 3-5 Oct 01 in Atlanta, GA.
-- National LOA membership forms were made available for those who haven't been exposed to National LOA
-- Maj Koerkenmeyer volunteered to head organizing the Tyndall contingent. She has made some block reservations and will organize carpools. If you plan to attend the Conference please contact her
-- Don’t forget to get you Tyndall Raptor Chapter LOA shirt before going to the Conference!
- Upcoming speakers/meetings:
-- Next meeting is schedule for Friday, 31 Aug, at the O’Club. BGen Hodgkins, 325 FW/CC, will be our guest speaker. Meeting begins at 1530 hrs. Afterwards we’ll head to the bar for those interested that little extra “mentoring”
-- AFPC Functionals will be here 13/14 Sep. They will be giving an assignments briefing at 1400 hrs, 13 Sep, in the WEG Auditorium. All loggies officers are invited and encouraged to attend. We will also be setting up individual/personal appointments to meet with the assignments officers 13th and 14th. We’ll post a sign-up list to reserve your appointment; more to come.
